Attack on the Christian community in Lahore has blemished the face of Pakistan: Altaf Hussain

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the attack on a residential colony of the Christian community in Lahore and burning of their properties. He termed the incident a flagrant failure of the Punjab government. He also expressed complete solidarity and sympathies to the Christian family on the outrageous incident.
Mr Hussain said that the Christian community was attacked in a similar incident in Gojra town in the Punjab province. A Church was burned down and houses of people belonging to the Christian community were set on fire. The same history has been repeated today in the Badami Bagh Noor Mohalla of Lahore.

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has expressed its grief that Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had not visited Abbas Town even after the passage of five days. The committee asked if Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad could go to the affected families of the Abbas Town tragedy in order to share their grief, why the chief minister and other government functionaries could not go there.

You know it very well that a massive bomb blast had rocked Abbas Town in which over 50 innocent people died and over 150 were seriously wounded which includes women, children and elderly. Many people are still unaccounted for. Hundreds of residential flats have been damaged. Poor inhabitants of Abbas Town have lost everything. It has been three days since this tragic incident occurred but no action has been taken against the terrorists. Attempt is being made to hoodwink the people into believing that certain terrorists connected with the tragedy have been arrested.
