The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the grenade attacks on transporters and business persons for refusing to pay extortion money and expressed deep concerns on the increasing activities of extortion mafia in the heavy presence of law-enforcing agencies. It said that the brazen manner in which the criminals are operating in the city gives the impression that they have been given the license to pursue their nefarious activities.

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the problems of the poor and oppressed people throughout the country are similar in nature. Their problems have nothing to do with their nationality, language, race, colour, religion or sect. He said that the oppressed people should get united and make a concerted effort against the monolith of feudalism and serfdom. He expressed these views while talking to the members of the various committees at Nine Zero.

A gathering was held in the Watling Community Centre for offering fateha which was attended by workers of the International Secretariat and different other cities of the UK including Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Peterborough, and Bradford. Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that the MQM did not bow before any oppressive force in the past and the struggle for truth and justice would continue. The struggle of the MQM is motivated by the welfare of the people of Pakistan and progress for the country instead of merely acquiring political power.
Dr Sattar said that the changing of electoral constituencies and verification of voters in Karachi alone are conspiracies to subvert the mandate of the MQM.
