The MQM will introduce a modern local government system if it comes into power: Altaf Hussain
 Posted on: 4/23/2013
The commissionarate system of the British would be buried once and for all
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the MQM would introduce the local government system after coming into power in order to solve problems of the people and for providing them justice at their doorstep. He said that the commissionarate system of the British would be buried once and for all. He was addressing a large gathering of workers today in Sanghar and Jamshoro simultaneously.
Mr Hussain said those who accuse the MQM of being a regional or linguistic party should see that it had fielded candidates from across Pakistan. The MQM was the only political party in which there was no wrangling on the distribution of tickets and it announced the names of 671 candidates at one place in a single day without any disturbance.
By announcing poor and middle-class candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan along with Sindh, the MQM had shown that it was the genuine representative party of the 98 per cent people of the country.
The party that started from the land of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai has spread across the length and breadth of the country.
Mr Hussain said that the politically aware people knew it very well that the MQM had always served the public selflessly and it had broken all past records of public service.
Shedding light on the importance of the local government system, Mr Hussain said that the administration of cities throughout the world was done through local government institutions. Supply of drinking water, education and healthcare facilities, construction of roads and sewerage system is done by local bodies.
Systems of local governments provide civic facilities to people but it was unfortunate that the colonial system was imposed in our country.
Mr Hussain said that the MQM representatives elected to local bodies transformed cities in which they came to power beyond recognition. Mustafa Kamal built flyovers, bridges parts and dispensaries and Kunwar Naveed completed mega projects in Hyderabad. The British commissionrate system was imposed in order to impede the progress of MQM by the forces of exploitation.
Mr Hussain stated in clear terms that the MQM would scrap the dual system of local government and introduce the modern system in order to provide basic facilities to the people. Those who raise slogans about democracy could not be sincere in their claims unless they work of establishing the local government system.
Mr Hussain said that the misunderstandings between the permanent residents of Sindh that were deliberately created had ended and the world would see that people from all ethnic backgrounds would vote for the MQM on 11th May.
Mr Hussain said that he would not hesitate from sacrificing his life for the rights of the people of Sindh. He appealed to the oppressed peasants and farmers to vote for the MQM.
Mr Hussain hoped that the people of Sindh would cast their vote in favour of MQM candidate and make them successful. He said that that the MQM would form the next government in Sindh.
