The MQM is the only party with presence in both parliament and the Sindh Assembly that has a clear stance on the question of confronting terrorism by taking on its indisputable exponent, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This is remarkable because the three ‘liberal’ parties — the PPP, the MQM and the ANP — are directly in the crosshairs of the terrorists and will be hard put to conduct their electoral campaigns in the coming days in preparation for the 2013 general elections.

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that Malala Yousufzai is the symbol of knowledge which the Taliban want to suppress. The cowardly attack on Malala and her classmates was the attack on Islam, the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and the humanity. It was an attack on the enlightened and bright face of Pakistan. He said this while talking to a huge gathering of workers and sympathizers of the party in Jinnah Ground. The address of Mr Hussain was relayed to over 36 locations throughout Pakistan.

KARACHI: Taliban are inhumane, illiterate and people from the stone-age, said Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday in Karachi. Hussain was addressing the participants of a conference held in honour of Malala Yousafzai. The 14-year-old child rights activists was attacked by Taliban gunmen on October 9 when she was on her way home from school. Hussain said that if the armed forces fail to apprehend these culprits, then the nation will be left with no other option but to look towards the international community for the safety of their children.

Altaf Hussain asks workers and sympathizers to collect details about Ulema, Zakirs and prayer leaders in their areas

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has asked the MQM workers in Karachi and rest of the country to collect details about the Ulema, Zakirs, and prayer leaders in all the mosques and imam bargahs in their respective areas. He asked them to collect all necessary information and send them to the Head Office Nine Zero of the MQM. The details will be collected in the local zonal office from the concerned unit and sector offices from where they would be sent to Nine Zero. He said that the names of all those Ulema, Zakirs and prayer leaders who refuse to provide information about themselves should be sent to the government. The government should obtain information about such people as the interest of the country lies in this.
