MQM announces a day of mourning on the killings of innocent people in Abbas Town blast

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has announced to observe a day of mourning tomorrow on the killings of innocent people in the devastating blast in the Abbas Town area of Karachi. All organizational activities of the MQM will remain suspended tomorrow and fateha and recitation of the Holy Quran would be offered for the martyrs of the blast at the MQM offices.

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has deplored the devastating bomb blast in Abbas Town in Karachi and expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow on the deaths of innocent people. He said that the administration, police and law-enforcing agencies did not take any step to secure the area, although many people had died in an earlier blast in Abbas Town sometime back. Condemning the blast, Mr Hussain said that the elements which were carrying out such barbaric acts were not even worthy of being called human beings.

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that if the people of the poor and middle classes got united on a single platform for their rights and for eliminating the archaic feudal system, no one would be able to resist the arrival of a revolution in Pakistan. He was addressing a gathering the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Convention in Islamabad. District-level office-bearers of the MQM from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the convention. A large number of women and students were also present on the occasion.

Killings of journalists before the general elections is a cause of great concern The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the killing of the senior journalist Mahmood Afridi by armed terrorists in Qalat. He termed the incident a blatant attack on the freedom of the press and added that journalists were being gunned down in the country continuously. He said that the killing of journalists and incidents of violence were a source of great concern for the people, particularly when the general elections were approaching near.
