A telephonic conversation was held between the MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain and President Asif Zardari on Thursday night. Both the leaders exchanged views on national and international challenges facing the country, political situation, the law and order situation in the country, particularly with reference toKarachi, and restoration of the local government system.

Mr Hussain informed President Zardari about the apprehensions and concerns of the business community and the general public about the crimes of extortion, grenade-attacks and kidnappings for ransom. He called for action against the criminal elements operating in the city.

Sindh Minister for Industries Rauf Siddiqui on Thursday called on Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder and leader Altaf Hussain and apprised him about the measures taken for the industrial progress and betterment of industries in the province.

The minister also briefed the MQM chief about the construction of `Afza Altaf’ Flyover in the Site industrial area by his ministry.   News Report

Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder and leader Altaf Hussain said here on Wednesday that the proposal to convene roundtable conference in the wake of threats being faced by the country was aimed at finding out solutions with consenses among all political and religious party of the country meet those challenges.There could be difference of opinion about the threats about which I have hinted and cannot be dismissed altogether but deliberated upon as the country's biggest issue, at present, is its stability and survival.Mr Hussain was speaking at the meeting held at the MQM's International Secretariate London. It was attended, among others, by Sindh minister for Industries, London, , Rauf Siuddiqui, MQM International Secretariat In-charge Mustafa Azizabadi, Joint In-charge Mohammad Ashfaq, Qasim Ali Raza and other members of the International Secretariat.

Co-ordination Committee expresses strong reservations against lack of action against criminals involved in extortion and kidnappings for ransom
Federal Interior Minister Mr Rehman Malik held a meeting with members of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM in Dubai. Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad was also present in the meeting besides Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee Mr Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani and members Mr Raza Haroon, Mr Anis Ahmed Advocate, Mr Qasim Ali Raza, Mr Muhammad Anwar and Mr Tariq Mir.
