The Jaffar Express Hijacking: A Wake-Up Call for the Nation - Altaf Hussain ------------------------------ #JaffarExpressAttack The recent hijacking of the #jaffar_express and the hostage-taking of passengers by Baloch insurgents in #Balochistan should serve as a wake-up call for those in power. This incident is not just another news headline. It is a reflection of deep-seated grievances and years of oppression that have led to armed resistance in the region. ---------------------------- People of Punjab! Wake Up Before It’s Too Late! --------------- I urge the people of #Punjab: Open your eyes to the gravity of the situation. Time is running out. #Pakistan is at a crossroads, and you must act now. Raise your voice against injustice, demand an end to oppression, and play your part in saving the country. If you remain silent today, you may soon find yourselves left with nothing but prayers for the departed. .................................. The ongoing turmoil in Balochistan is not sudden—it is the result of decades of injustices and brutality. The latest events indicate that armed resistance is no longer just in the hands of Baloch men; Baloch women have now joined the struggle, proving that the situation has reached a critical tipping point. History has shown that resistance cannot be crushed by brute force. If military power alone could silence voices of dissent, then the United States wouldn’t have had to retreat from Vietnam, and the Soviet Union wouldn’t have crumbled into pieces. Unfortunately, just like in 1971, when misleading narratives were fed to the people of West Pakistan while the army was surrendering in East Pakistan, a similar pattern is unfolding today. The truth about the Jaffar Express hijacking is being distorted. The insurgents, rather than harming innocent civilians, released the hostages but the media is spinning a different story to mislead the public. Pakistan is going through its most fragile and dangerous phase, yet those in power remain blind to reality. Instead of addressing real issues, political opponents are being arrested, disappeared, and silenced. Elections are being rigged. I ask my brothers and sisters in Punjab: How would you feel if your loved ones were arrested simply because authorities couldn’t find the actual suspect? If your family members were tortured for crimes they didn’t commit? It is a historical fact that Balochistan was never originally part of Pakistan. It had its own government, currency, and assembly. At the time of Pakistan’s formation, Balochistan was forcibly annexed through military aggression. Since then, the province has been systematically deprived of its rights, its resources looted, and its people treated as second-class citizens. Today, the Baloch people are fighting for the freedom that was stolen from them. When I speak these truths, I am branded a traitor and an enemy of the state. But let me be clear: I believe in dialogue, not war. I have personally urged Pakistan’s military generals through meetings, letters, and conversations—to allow me to mediate peace, but my pleas fell on deaf ears. I had strong ties with Nawab Akbar Bugti, and I held multiple discussions with Sardar Ataullah Mengal and Mahmood Khan Achakzai in London on how to resolve Balochistan’s crisis. For an entire year, I begged authorities to halt military operations in Balochistan. But excessive use of force blinds decision-makers, and eventually, war was imposed on the region. Today, we are witnessing the devastating consequences. I say this with a heavy heart: The burden of saving Pakistan now rests on your shoulders. Recognize the urgency of the situation before it’s too late. If you remain indifferent, the consequences will be irreversible. Act now. Speak up. Demand justice. End the oppression. If you stay silent, all that will remain is mourning. 2/2 A Message to the Youth. The Future is in Your Hands To the young generation of #Pakistan: This country’s future is in your hands. Stand up, take charge, and fight for justice. I urge the people of #Punjab and the entire nation to read my book, "The Balochistan Issue - In the Mirror of History." It is now available in PDF format. Read it to understand the true history of Balochistan and the reality that has been hidden from you. Altaf Hussain’s 221st speech via TikTok March 11, 2025.
