Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has condemned the killing of District Election Commissioner Muhammad Ziaullah Qasmi by terrorists in Quetta. He termed the killing as yet another proof of the failure of the government and its institutions. He expressed deep concerns on the continuing lawlessness in Balochistan even after the imposition of the Governor’s rule where government officials were also being gunned down along with innocent people

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has welcomed the passage of a Bill by the National Assembly with unanimous vote outlawing corporal punishment to children. The committee said that the foundation stone for a bright Pakistan has been laid as no one could be allowed to inflict physical punishment to young children who have the responsibility to lead us into future. The committee commended the members of the National Assembly and the civil society who worked for the passage of the Bill to proscribe all forms of physical punishment to children.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (US) has strongly condemned the attack and torching of the houses of Christians in Lahore’s Badami Bagh.
In a joint statement, the MQM (US) Central Organizer, Junaid Fehmi, Joint Central Organizers Mohammad Arshad Hussain and Nadeem Siddiqui as well as members of Central Organising Committee Tauseef Khan, Wasim Zaidi, Saqib Mohyuddin, Wakeel Jamali, Mohammad Zaheer, Ali Hassan, Aamir Qazi, Gul Mohammad  and Asad Siddiqui, said that the act of attacking and putting houses of Christians on fire in Badami Bagh amounted to an attack on the Ideology of Pakistan, thereby  jolting the foundation of the country.

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) organized a protest demonstration at 10 Downing Street in order to express solidarity with the victims of the Abbas Town tragedy in Karachi and Badami Bagh tragedy in Lahore. The demonstration continued for over two hours. Members of the Co-ordination Committee Muhammad Anwer, Saleem Shahzad, organizer of MQM UK Dr Saleem Danish and workers and office-bearers of different units of the MQM in UK attended the demonstration. Shumaila Imran, wife of late Dr Imran Farooq, was also present along with her children. Members of the Pakistani community, including women and children were also present on the occasion.
