Haq Parast Senators belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday appealed to national and international human rights associations and non-governmental organisatons (NGOs) to raise their voice against the local government bill adopted unilaterally by Sindh Assembly on Monday as the new law was aimed at bulldozing democratic nursery, besides creating hatred among permanent residents of the province.

KARACHI: Blasting Peoples Party for what he called creating a divide between Sindhis and non-Sindhis in the province by getting passed the new local government bill from the provincial assembly on Monday, MQM chief Altaf Hussain urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to provide justice to the MQM and its voters.

New LG law to spell downfall of PPP: Altaf

Rejecting the new local government law in Sindh in strong words, Altaf Hussain has predicted the downfall of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) after adopting the “divide and rule” law.
Hussain was addressing the pre-election rallies held simultaneously in Karachi and Mirpurkhas on Monday after the Sindh Assembly session where the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013 was adopted.“The days of the provincial government are numbered after the adoption of this unlawful and illegal bill,” the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief said. “The PPP, by adopting the British era local government system, has initiated the process of spreading hatred between rural and urban people.”
He warned that the downfall of the PPP had started as the party had again created an atmosphere to divide the province like it did in 1973 by imposing the quota system.

Days of Sindh PPP govt numbered with the passage of unconstitutional LG Act: Altaf Hussain

Terming the Sindh’s People’s Party government’s act of getting approved Sindh Government Local Government Act-2013 from the Provincial Assembly `a violation of Constitution’s Article 140-A’, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain said here on Monday that the days of the provincial PPP government have been numbered with the adoption of this unlawful and illegal Bill.
PPP government by adopting British Empire’s local government system has, in fact, initiated the process of spreading hatred between rural and urban population of Sindh, he added.
Mr Hussain was addressing different mammoth gatherings held simultaneously at North Nazimabad, Korangi, Orangi and Mirpurkhas, in connection with the Aug-22 by-elections over telephone. It was largely attended by women, children, youths and children.
