PAKISTANI JOURNALISTS FRATERNITY, TV SHOW PRESENTERS NEVER DISCUSSED THE ATROCITIES AGAINST THE MOHAJIRS- Altaf Hussain
It is true that the PTI chairman
along with some of his leaders and workers, are in prison. However, the claim by certain biased anchors and YouTubers that the extent of oppression faced by PTI is unprecedented in Pakistan's history is completely incorrect and contradicts historical facts.
Have these biased journalists forgotten the brutal military operations in former East Pakistan?
Have they ignored the ongoing military operations in #Balochistan for the past 77 years?
Have they forgotten the military operations and drone attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas?
Have they ignored the military operation against #Mohajirs that began on June 19, 1992, and continues to this day, 33 years later?
The arrests of
leaders and workers by the government and military started on May 8, 2023. However, the atrocities inflicted by the military on MQM and other groups and communities during Pakistan's 77-year history have resulted in countless killings of #Baloch Pashtuns, and Mohajirs due to state oppression. Were they not someone's sons or brothers?
The military operation against MQM has been ongoing for 33 years. Thousands of
workers have been arrested from their homes and extra judicially killed under the guise of police encounters, with hundreds still missing after years.
My 80-year-old elder brother Nasir Hussain, who served Pakistan through civil service until his retirement, and his 28-year-old son Arif Hussain, an engineer with no political affiliation, were arrested on December 5, 1995. They were brutally tortured for three days and then shot dead on December 9, 1995. After killing Arif Hussain, they split his head into two with an axe. Has such brutality ever been inflicted on Imran Khan and other PTI’s leaders or their family?
My brother-in-law Aslam Abrahani was arrested, tortured in Adiala Jail for months, and eventually martyred.
My companions were dragged out of jails, shot while handcuffed, and declared as killed in police encounters. Some were tortured to death in jails.
A worker named Farooq Patni, along with three companions and his pregnant wife Shazia Farooq, was arrested and killed. His wife was detained in an undisclosed location, tortured, and even gave birth to her daughter in captivity.
Similarly, a 24-year-old unmarried MQM female worker, Raees Fatima, was arrested and subjected to unspeakable inhumane torture in Islamabad jails and safe houses before being transferred to Adiala Jail.
The atrocities against Mohajirs by the military were so severe that our mothers and sisters carried the coffins of our martyrs. Have any of those championing human rights and "true freedom" today ever spoken of these atrocities against Muhajirs?
Has Imran Khan or any other political leader raised their voice against this oppression?
My party an I've been subjected to baseless, fabricated, shameful, and provocative accusations.
Imran Khan has even said multiple times that if he were allowed, he would launch a drone strike on Altaf Hussain.
Despite this, whenever anyone faced oppression or injustice, I spoke out against it, including for Imran Khan and PTI leaders and workers. I did this not for personal gain but per my conscience. No other leader in Pakistan except Altaf Hussain has spoken out for Imran Khan.
Even now, when the people of Punjab, especially the youth, have realised that the military is behind the actions against Imran Khan and PTI, certain so-called anchors and YouTubers, who previously supported military atrocities, are distorting history.
They mislead the nation against Altaf Hussain, who strives to liberate the country from military control, and falsely accuse MQM of having a militant wing.
These anchors never acknowledge the atrocities faced by #Mohajirs which continue even today.
For example, MQM worker Muhammad Kamran was arrested on December 9 during the Martyrs' Day event and has since been missing. A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court for his recovery, but there is no information about his whereabouts.
Thousands of #MQM workers have been arrested, tortured, and falsely accused. I have been 9 months imprisoned and sentenced to flogging by General Zia Ul Haq’s summary military court. Yet, these anchors never discuss the atrocities against Altaf Hussain,
workers, or Mohajirs. Instead, they spread lies and salt the wounds of Mohajirs because the military has drawn a "red line" against Altaf Hussain.
These so-called journalists and anchors are biased and prejudiced, just as in 1971 which led to the breakup of the country. I do not manipulate the public in the name of "true freedom." Instead, I genuinely want Pakistan to be free and sovereign.
Our forefathers built this nation, sacrificed everything, and endured unimaginable losses for it. Despite the sacrifices of Mohajirs in 1971 to save Pakistan, we continue to face prejudice and are treated as third-class citizens.
If such discriminatory behaviour persists against the founders of Pakistan, how can the country become strong and stable?
Despite the biased narratives, I will continue to raise my voice for truth and justice and expose the real facts to the public.
ALTAF HUSSAIN.
