I place my sane recommendations to the Army Chief General Asim Munir, Corps Commanders, Operational Commanders, and all senior military officers for Pakistan's security in light of changing international geopolitical scenario- Altaf Hussain …………………………………………………… A month ago, during a study circle, I stated that positive changes would emerge in January 2025. Even though January has not arrived, significant global changes have already begun to unfold. It is a fact that relations between countries do not remain constant; with changing times and circumstances, their interests evolve, leading to shifts in priorities and policies. Since Pakistan's inception, the country has experienced four military coups. The United States, Britain, and Western nations not only supported these military governments but also granted them a free hand to suppress democratic voices. Consequently, democratic governments in Pakistan were unable to complete their tenures. However, global dynamics are now shifting. The balance of power in the region is changing, and the U.S., U.K., and European Union, which once supported Pakistan's military regimes for their own interests, are now openly opposing Pakistan. Recently, the U.S. imposed sanctions on four entities for their role in Pakistan's missile program. Moreover, the U.S., U.K., and European Union have condemned the military courts' sentencing of civilians in the May 9 cases, deeming it a violation of justice, civil liberties, and international agreements. I address the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, all Corps Commanders, Operational Commanders, and senior military officers in the name of Pakistan's unity and security. The world is in flux, and with time, the priorities and policies of global powers are changing. It is time for you to also revise your policies. Enough oppression has been carried out—now it must end. Seek forgiveness from all political opponents and the oppressed communities who have suffered under your actions. Heal their wounds. For God's sake, stop the oppression and killings of Baloch, Pashtuns, Mohajirs, and other marginalized groups under the pretext of military operations. Issue an emergency directive to cease the arrests of all political activists, including those from PTI, and individuals advocating for their rights, such as the Baloch, Pashtuns, Mohajirs, Sindhis, Seraikis, Kashmiris, Gilgitis, Baltistanis, Hazarewal, and journalists who speak against injustice. Release and recover all detainees, including PTI and MQM workers, Imran Khan, and all other oppressed individuals. I urge General Asim Munir and senior military leadership to establish a mechanism for the release of and other political prisoners in a way that preserves your dignity. Lift bans on MQM, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, Baloch organizations, and other public groups. End the unconstitutional restrictions on Altaf Hussain, which have persisted for nine years. Dismantle organizations created and supported by the military, and return #Pakistan to its elected representatives and genuine political parties. Allow democracy to flourish, empower the Parliament and judiciary, and enable the people to govern. For Pakistan's survival and security, I sincerely offer my cooperation in resolving the matters between the public and the military. If you act upon my suggestions, the growing distances and animosities between the public and the military will diminish. Understand that public resentment against the military is at an all-time high. History shows that when public hatred grows, even superpowers withdraw their support, and oppressors face humiliation and disgrace. I want to make it clear that we do not wish to fight the military. Instead, we aim for all matters to be resolved amicably, for the military to return to its barracks, and to function within its constitutional framework. To the steadfast workers, I say that your sacrifices are bearing fruit. Insha’Allah, will soon be released, and other political prisoners will also regain their freedom. The restrictions on PTI and will be lifted, and the oppressed communities, Muhajirs, Baloch, Pashtuns, Sindhis, Seraikis, Kashmiris, Gilgitis, and Baltistanis, will achieve freedom. Justice will prevail in the country. The future belongs not to the elite but to the 98% poor and oppressed people. ALTAF HUSSAIN. London - UK. 190th Intellectual Session December 23, 2024.
