Otherwise it will give the impression to the world that the army has started the operation and the federal government is not part of the operation.
The Founder and Leader of MQM Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan should have taken the nation into confidence before launching the operation against terrorists in Waziristan.
“Mian Nawaz Shareef is the constitutional head of this independent state. It was his responsibility to address the nation through electronic media before launching the operation and tell them that the government has taken the decision to launch the operation. He should tell the nation that the growing and brazen attacks of terrorists had become intolerable. That’s why he has ordered the army to initiate operation in Waziristan, “ Mr. Hussain said.
“I don’t know the operation which has been launched or about to be launched. Has the federal government ordered army to start the operation? As a prime he has the majority in the parliament, he has not informed the nation yet. It is 3:20 in London. It is deplorable that he has not announced yet. I have been waiting that the Prime Minister would address the nation. I have received reports that he would take the elected representatives into confidence tomorrow. It is the matter of national integrity and survival. The prime minister must take the nation into confidence. It is his constitutional responsibility to take the nation into confidence. I request him to address the nation before the session of the national assembly and tell the nation why did he start this military operation and what are causes which compelled him to order the operation. If you do so the nation will give full support to the operation, “ Mr. Hussain said.
“I have received people’s views on the launch of the operation. Majority of the people have expressed their support for the operation and the army and ready to sacrifice their lives for the nation. They have expressed their views through faxes, telex, emails, tweets, phones, and facebook comments. They said they would not leave army alone in this difficult time. I will once again say to take the nation into confidence otherwise it will give the impression to the world that the army has started the operation and the federal is not part of the operation. The chief of army is not the head of state. You are Mian Nawaz Shareef. The country is passing through a difficult time. People should be informed about the consequences and ramifications of the operation, “ Mr. Hussain said.
In response to a question Mr. Hussain said, “ There is no doubt members of the national assemblies are elected representatives. However, when we face national security crisis or natural disasters or war, in this situation head of the state address the nation and take the nation into confidence. I once again say that the Prime Minister should take the nation into confidence and explain to people why he did launch this operation. He should tell the nation to remain united at this hour.”
