Uncontrolled human activities have damaged the environment: Altaf Hussain
Message on the World Environment Day
London: 4th June 2012
I am happy to know that the World Environment Day is being observed in Pakistan on 5th June in order to create awareness among the general public about environmental issues such as pollution, global warming and climate change.
The Earth is the only planet in the solar system where the life exists and it is because of the particular atmosphere and environment. Human activities such as burning of fossil fuels for power generation, emission of toxic gases and elements from vehicles, deforestation, industrial activities and uncontrolled use of resources damaged the environment.
Emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide has resulted in global warming. The climate of the world is changing because of the rising temperature. We are seeing hotter summers and large-scale flooding due to heavy rains. Pakistan is one of the countries badly affected by the change in climate.
We should all feel our duty to protect the environment of the earth and restore the ecological balance disturbed by human activities. We are all directly affected by the environment and hence it should be the duty of every individual to do his part of the work in making the Earth greener and healthier.
