Killings of MQM workers continues relentlessly despite all assurances given by the caretaker government: Altaf Hussain

The caretaker government will have to prove its claims of holding free and fair elections by arresting the killers
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that killings of the MQM office-bearers and workers were continuing relentlessly despite the assurances given by the caretaker government. He strongly condemned the brutal killing of the Joint Unit In-charge of Unit UC – 5 Muhammad Faisal of Mahmoodabad Sector by the firing of armed terrorists.
Muhammad Faisal, who was sitting in his shop, was shot and critically injured by the firing of terrorists who were riding a motorcycle. He was rushed to a hospital where he breathed his last.
Mr Hussain asked the caretaker government and the Election Commission to answer as to what they were doing to stop the killings of MQM office-bearers and workers. He asked the caretaker government, governor Sindh and the Election Commission to think as to what would be the effect on the elections if the MQM calls a general strike on the killings of its workers or holds protest demonstrations.
He said that the killers were roaming freely despite heavy presence of police and intelligence agencies in the city. Recently, member of the Literature Committee of the MQM Shiraz Azfar, a worker of Ranchhore Line Sector Amir Shaikh, a worker of Liaquatabad Sector Arifullah, a worker of Korangi Sector Hassan, and the member of Hazara Organizing Committee Saeed Khan were gunned down in various incidents. Earlier, the MQM election candidate Fakhrul Islam was brutally shot and killed in Hyderabad, and his killers could not be arrested so far.
Mr Hussain asked if some personnel of provincial intelligence agencies were hand in glove with the killers and criminal elements. He said that the MQM was swallowing the bitter pill for the sake of holding of peaceful elections.
He said that the caretaker government must pay immediate attention to the unending killings of MQM office-bearers and workers as the relatives of those being killed were asking as to how long this barbarism would continue. He said that the caretaker government would have to demonstrate that it is sincere in its claims for establishing peace and holding free and fair elections.
Mr Hussain asked the MQM workers and sympathizers to form vigilance committees in order to keep an eye on suspicious elements in their areas.
He extended sympathies to the grieving family members of Muhammad Faisal and prayed Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace.
