KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Babar Ghauri, late Wednesday night raised the issue of deteriorating law & order situation in Karachi with Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf over the telephone, Geo News repoted.
According to sources the federal minister, in his phone call to the prime minister, expressed grave concerns over the rising incidents of extortion-related violence in the financial hub of Pakistan.
During the telephonic meeting he urged the prime minister that government provide protection to the businessmen in particular and the people in general against the gun-slinging extortionists and their cold-blooded henchmen.
He demanded of the government to draw a hard-line under the rampant crime by launching drastic measures against the malefactors.
In response to Babar Ghouri’s concerns, Prime Minster pledged that he would do all that he could to address the issues raised by the MQM leader.
Prime Minister Ashraf also vowed to visit Karachi at the earliest to hold a high-level meeting with regard to law & order situation in the metropolis.
