MQM founder and leader Altaf Hussain’s message on MQM’s foundation day
#MQM28thFoundationDayWithAltaf
Today, the 26th of July, marks a historic milestone. On this very date in 1997, we took a decisive step by transforming the Muhajir Qaumi Movement into the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). The vision behind this transformation was to expand MQM’s mission beyond ethnic lines and include all oppressed people of Pakistan in a unified struggle for justice, equality, and the empowerment of the poor and middle classes. It was a call to dismantle the outdated and exploitative feudal system that has long plagued our nation.
As my philosophy of realism and pragmatism and the revolutionary message of MQM began resonating powerfully with oppressed communities across Pakistan, the feudal-protecting military establishment began to see MQM as a threat to their status quo. In a bid to suppress our movement, they launched relentless state operations, orchestrated conspiracies, and unleashed toxic propaganda campaigns aimed at discrediting MQM and vilifying Altaf Hussain in the eyes of the nation.
Yet, despite brutal repression, deceitful narratives, and state-sponsored injustice, MQM endured. The dream lives on. Even today, the poor and middle-class citizens of Pakistan continue to see Altaf Hussain and MQM as symbols of hope and resistance in the ongoing fight to topple the status quo and end systemic oppression.
On this 19th foundation day of MQM, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the oppressed people of all nationalities. I reaffirm my unwavering commitment to the mission of transforming Pakistan by abolishing the cruel feudal order and securing the rightful place of every oppressed nation. Our journey continues, and we will not rest until justice prevails.
