LONDON. [UK]. April 1: Altaf Hussain, has issued a fervent appeal to Pakistan’s leadership, urging an immediate cessation of military and paramilitary operations across the country, particularly in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Karachi.

He warned that the worsening crisis threatens the stability of the state and that continued use of force will have dire consequences.

Citing the deteriorating national situation, he implored the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and all Corps and Operational Commanders to exercise prudence. He emphasised that governance through brute force would only deepen national discord. Instead, he called for constructive dialogue with political and nationalist forces, including Imran Khan, the MQM leadership, and the Balochistan National Party’s head, Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

He highlighted that Mengal remains open to ending his protest if detained Baloch activists, including Mah Rang Baloch, Sami Deen Baloch, and Bebo Baloch, as well as other imprisoned women, youth, and elders, are released.

Drawing parallels from global history, he reminded that wars ultimately conclude at the negotiation table.

He referenced the post-World War peace settlements and the United States’ eventual diplomatic engagement in Afghanistan, stressing that Pakistan must not diverge from this precedent.

Expressing deep sorrow over the ongoing bloodshed,

He extended his condolences not only to civilians but also to the families of security personnel who have lost their lives amid the unrest.

He reiterated that only dialogue, not militarisation, could steer Pakistan away from impending disaster.

His remarks came during the 231st ideological session on March 29, 2025, as he made a final plea for Pakistan’s leadership to abandon force-driven policies and adopt reconciliation as the path forward.
