Enlightened forces have to jointly struggle to save country: Altaf,Business Recorder

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said that whether it was the sacrifices of thousands of innocent workers of the MQM or Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto or other sacrifices, all these were made to strengthen Pakistan.

He further said that "history today has placed burden upon us to save Pakistan that we need to discharge our responsibilities or else our next generation would never forgive us for our failings".

He said this during his telephonic conversation with former federal interior minister Senator Rahman Malik on Monday, said a statement issued by MQM here on Monday.

During a detailed interaction, national and international situation was also discussed and both leaders vowed to confront the national and international conspiracies against the enlightened and liberal forces in Pakistan jointly.

Altaf Hussain stated that the country and the nation is passing through difficult times and the democratic, progressive, moderate and enlightened parties are being kept out of the election process by the national and international establishment under a sustained policy.

He added that under the circumstances the enlightened, progressive and liberal forces have to struggle to save the country jointly.

Altaf Hussain, addressing the workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party said that now is the responsibilities of the devotees of Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto Shaheed and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to pay off for the sacrifices they made and come forward to practically pay tributes to them by joining the struggle.

Similarly, addressing the workers of the Awami National Party (ANP), he said that following the footsteps of Bacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan they must raise their voice against the oppressive and tyrant forces and pay tribute to them by joining the struggle practically.

He finally said that Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has made immeasurable sacrifices and over 15,000 office bearers and workers laid their lives in its struggle and therefore, the workers of the MQM should pay tribute to its martyrs by taking a firm stand by forming a wall against the oppressors and tyrant to honour the sacrifices of its martyr.
