KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and Awami National Party (ANP) got united at the Karachi Press Club on Monday to condemn the recent attacks on their party members and offices ahead of the general elections.

PPP leaders, Taj Haider, Syed Najmi Alam and Syed Waqar Mehdi. MQM leaders, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Raza Haroon, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and Wasey Jaleel. ANP leaders Bashir Jan represented their respective parties.

Taj Haider said the terrorists were targeting pro-democracy, liberal, moderate and progressive parties and these parties were not being allowed to run their election campaigns freely.

He said"whatever the circumstances would be, his party will fully participate in the elections."

The PPP will return victorious in the general election with the full support of the masses, he added.

Taj Haider told a questioner that the PPP, MQM and ANP want stability of democracy and holding of the election on-time.

Supporting the point of view of Taj Haider, ANP leader Bashir Jan said his party will fully participate in the elections and will work for the progress and development of the country.

He said all parties should be given a level playing field in the general election.

Bashir Jan was of the view that the ideologies could not be suppressed or eliminated by killing its leaders.

Addressing the occasion, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said moderate and liberal parties were on the target list of terrorists as election activities of these parties were being targeted.

He said the MQM strongly condemned all acts of terrorism.

"we will not surrender before any sort of terrorism" Haider Abbas Rizvi added.

He said that his party was against terrorism and supported the unity of the Muslim community.
