ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Monday staged a walkout from the Senate over what it described as deteriorating law and order situation of Karachi – the largest and most populated city of Pakistan.
Speaking from the floor of the upper house, MQM senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi alleged that the Rangers have destroyed peace of the provincial capital and economic hub of the country.
“Our people are being killed while Rangers are conducting raids on MQM offices,” he complained.
Tahir Mashhadi also presented an adjournment motion over what he termed Karachi’s poor law and order situation but it was not entertained due to the caretaker interior minister’s not being present in the house. On this, the MQM senators staged a walkout to mark their protest.
