KARACHI/LONDON: Muttahida Quami Movement Chief Altaf Hussain on Friday expressed strong concerns over the questions being asked by the Returning Officers from election candidates and said they were aimed at humiliating the politicians.
Addressing the party workers by telephone he said that the questions were creating serious doubts over holding of general elections on time.
Altaf Hussain said the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Parliament should define the ideology of Pakistan.
“Nomination papers of a candidate were rejected only because he wrote a column on the Ideology of Pakistan”, a reference towards veteran journalist and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate from Chakwal Ayaz Amir.
Altaf Hussain demanded of the electoral body to delay elections by 15 to 30 days as it would be a difficult task to complete the scrutiny of the nomination papers within the stipulated time.
Mr Hussain said that delaying elections by 15 to 30 days would hardly make any difference
