DALLAS: MQM Houston chapter condemned the delimitation of constituencies exclusively in Karachi and called it as a conspiracy to rig the election mandate of MQM.
The MQM Houston Chapter was of the view that the demarcation in absence of any census is a discriminatory measure and is against Pakistan's constitution and is unjustified.
The MQM anniversary celebration held at a local hotel in Houston expressed reservation of overseas Pakistanis on the ‘unconstitutional and discriminatory’ delimitation of electoral constituencies.
The group will be running a letter writing campaign where they will write to US Congressman and Senators on this human rights violation.
A cake was cut to celebrate the anniversary. A large number of party workers and friends including women and families participated in the event.
MQM Houston coordinator Imtiaz Hasan while addressing the gathering said that MQM has already raised this issue of redistricting at United Nations.
MQM workers will play their role in raising this issue internationally and US leadership of MQM will highlight it to American policy makers.
The ceremony was also addressed by local MQM representatives including Mohammad Shoaib, Saeed Siddiqui, G M Chishti, Mohammad Ahmad, Jamshed Najmi and Major Najmi.
Local leaders highlighting the objectives and background of MQM formation said that MQM is growth and expansion for last twenty nine years is a result of Altaf Hussain's efforts, vision and sacrifices.
The gathering prayed for speedy recovery of MQM activist Mr. Shameem and Mr. Sohail. Mr. Amir Ul Hassan conducted the ceremony while Shahab recited the Holy Quran.
