Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that he had never received a single penny from any agency, saying that he had turned down illegitimate money offered by visitors to his home.
In a telephonic address to religious clerics in Karachi and Lahore simultaneously, Hussain said that he had launched his movement in young age. He said that nobody could say that he was afraid of speaking truth.
“I never made a distinction on the basis of color and ethnicity throughout my life,” he said. All religions are respectable and all humans are equal, he concluded.
He said that he should not be targeted in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) case since he never accepted illegitimate money offered to him. He stated that the men who attempted to give him money had appeared on news channels in Pakistan and had corroborated his claim.
Throwing light on law order situation in the hub of economy, he said it was regrettable that innocent people were being murdered by a mafia who has nothing to do with values of humanity.
Quoting some verses from the Holy Quran, he said that murder of one soul is tantamount to murder of the entire humanity. “Islam is a universal religion which provides shelter and protection not only to its followers but other people also regardless of their colour, creed and country.
He said religious harmony was the dire need of the time as the survival of the nation was on stake. He said that he always preferred right path and remained steadfast on his principles without any political compromise.
