Maintaining sectarian harmony is of utmost importance to strengthen the unity of Muslim Ummah
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to the Shia and Sunni people and religious scholars to thwart the evil conspiracy aimed at igniting sectarian strife by exhibiting ideal sectarian harmony during the month of Muharram. He said that Muharram is a sacred month for Muslims of every shade and school of thought and this month gives us the lesson to sacrifice everything in the way of truth and righteousness and to stand fearlessly against injustices.
Mr Hussain said that maintaining sectarian harmony was of utmost importance to strengthen the unity of the Muslim Ummah to present the true spirit of the golden principles of Islam by giving to the world a message of peace, brotherhood and religious tolerance.
Mr Hussain asked the office-bearers and workers of the MQM to remain in contact with both the Shia and the Sunni religious scholars during Muharram. He also asked them to hold meeting with them on daily basis. He urged upon the religious scholars to maintain the environment of harmony and brotherhood and refrain from provocative steps under any circumstances. He asked them to keep a watchful eye on the elements who were conspiring to kindle the fire of sectarian strife.
