Gatherings were held in various cities besides Karachi in order to pay homage to the martyrs
The 26th anniversary of the tragedy of 31st October 1986 was observed by the MQM with reverence. Gatherings were held at the party offices throughout the country in order to pay homage to the martyrs. The main gathering held in Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad which was attended by Deputy Conveners of the Co-ordination Committee Senator Mrs Nasrin Jalil and Mr Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani.
Other members of the Co-ordination Committee, Senators, MNAs, MPAs and office-bearers of the MQM were also present on the occasion. A large number of workers belonging to different sectors and units of the MQM attended the programme and paid their respects to the souls of the martyrs. Prominent religious scholar Maulana Tanvirul Haque Thanvi offered prayers for the martyrs of the 31st October 1986 after fateha and recitation of the Holy Quran. Special prayers were offered for the security of the country and for long life and good health of MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain. Similar gatherings were held at the zonal offices of the MQM in various cities of Interior Sindh, Balochistan, the Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
