Founder & leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Altaf Hussain has appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to declare emergency in Karachi, Hyderabad and other urban areas of Sindh prior to possible monsoon rains.
In a statement issued from London Secretariat, Altaf Hussain said that the funds should be released for providing of basic necessities to the people, including health, sewerage, drinking water and other facilities during the rainy season. He said that the met office forecasted heavy rains and to tackle this extraordinary situation government has to take appropriate measures.
He said that the rain nullahs should be cleaned before the start of monsoon and the sewerage system should also be refurbished to drain the rain water during the season. He said that Karachi has more than twenty million populations but unfortunately it has no local government system to manage itself.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain showed his concern over possible disastrous rain which might cause chaos in Karachi and other urban areas of Sindh. He also demanded federal and provincial government to announce rain emergency in urban areas of Sindh, especially in Karachi and Hyderabad.
