Altaf Hussain's letter to Corps Commander Karachi
 Posted on: 7/12/2014
On Rangers raids and arbitrary arrests.

Honorable Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani,
As-salamu Alaykum,

We had a detailed discussion yesterday. Hardly eight hours had passed after our talk when Rangers officials raided the house of unit in-charge of New Karachi Unit A-140 at 3:00. They came to raid on five vehicles and five motor cycles. They searched the house and arrested Haider Beg They also took his motorcycle with them.

His arrest was reported to local Haq Parast MPA Izhar-ul Hasan and the concerned MNA Abdul Waseem. Both the elected representatives reached Haider Beg's home to get information about the raid and the arrest. After getting information from Haider's House, they reached Rangers local office at New Karachi Sector F-11. The soldier posted at the outside of the office told them that Rangers' Wing in-charge Col Shadman is not in the office. The elected represented sent SMS and called him many times but he did not respond to calls and text messages. They also tried to call Rangers' Sector Commander Brig. Hamid and send him text messages too. He also did not picked up the call and responded to SMS messages.

It is 7.00 am in the morning. The two elected representatives – MNA and MPA – are at the outside of the Rangers Office. No one is willing to listen to their complaint.

Honorable Corps Commander, I had complained to your about the behavior of Rangers personnel. I have sent you the details after eight hours with a hope that you would take notice of the incident urgently and interrogate them.

Wassalam,
An exiled Pakistani,

Altaf Hussain,
The founder and leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan)
