MQM supports democratic culture to harmonize political scenario

 Posted on: 6/22/2014
Member MQM Coordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar said the so-called democratic government itself was threatened to country’s integrity and it had become a police-state, while the government’s writ seemed nowhere.

Speaking at a press conference, Dr Farooq Sattar said MQM always supported democracy unconditionally but not the tyrannical democracy with feudal mentality. He said the government used its machinery to suppress the voice of people and clearly crashed the democratic values.

He said Minhaj-jul-Quran and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and supporters were being illegally detained and harassed. He said such brutal acts against the members of any party seemed political victimization. He said it was absolutely unreasonable and intolerable that the workers were prevented to welcome their leader.

Dr Farooq said political activities were the beauty of the democratic society and any attempt to create any obstacle maintaining such social norms could result any anti-democratic consequence. He said government should stop raiding on the houses of PAT workers and supporters and also ended harassing them.

He accused that Punjab government had allowed police to crush its opponents. He said nothing but the government itself threatened the democracy to adopting irrational behaviors. He said any attempt to suppress the voice was never born by the people.

Dr Sattar said MQM and Altaf Hussain kept an eye on the matter to plan the future. He suggested the government take instant action against such issues. He also showed his concerns over the issue of army operation and said it could sabotage the entire operation.

Members MQM Coordination Committee babar Khan Ghouri, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Nisar Pinhor and Gulfaraz khan Khattak were also present on the ground. The government had conspired to demoralize the army by derailing the operation Zarb-e-Azb.
