MQM MNA Tahira Asif who was wounded in a targeted-incident on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, succumbed to death on late Thursday night, and was buried at Shah Kamal graveyard in Lahore on Friday.
Thousands of people from all walks of life participated in the funeral and offered Namaz-e-Janaza after Friday prayers adjacent to Federal lodges. She was buried with sobbing and crying at Kamal Shah graveyard. Everyone, on the occasion, was shedding tears for her saddened death.
Deputy Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, members MQM Coordination Committee Mian Muhammad Atiq, Iftikhar Randhava, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Khalid Sultan Rasheed Godal, In-charge Central Punjab Amir Baloch, office bearers of various zones and towns, supporters and people, including PTI representatives and opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and Nouman Khan Chatta, PML-Q leaders Kamran Sheikh, Umar Hayyat, and Nasir Baloch, PML-N parliamentarians Bilal Yasin and Malik Pervaiz, a five-member delegation from PPP led by Shoukat Basra, PAT leader Basharat Jaspal, president PFUJ Rana Azeem and General Secretary Shahid Chaudhry, Director FIA Dr Usman, representatives of various religious, political, social and other affinities participated in the funeral of Shaheed Tahira Asif.
Abdul Haseeb offered Dua after the funeral and Deputy Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui placed a floral wreath over the grave of Shaheed Tahira Asif on behalf of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayers in absentia offered in the entire country. The main procession of absentia funeral was held at Lal Qila ground adjacent to MQM headquarters Nine-Zero. The prominent religious scholar Maulana Feroz Rehmani offered Dua after the funeral and beseeched Almighty Allah to confer her eternal peace.
Deputy Convener Engr. Nasir Jamal, members Coordination Committee Syed haider Abbas Rizvi, Dr Saghir Ahmed, Syed Aminul Haq, Baber Khan Ghouri, Gulfaraz Khan Khattak, Saif Yar Khan, Tauseef Khanzada, Kahaf Alvari, Syed Shakir ali, parliamentarians, supporters and workers offered the prayers in absentia.
MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi condoled the bereaved family and prayed Almighty Allah to bestow her eternal rest. He said the martyrdom of Tahira Asif showed that MQM could not be suppressed through discrimination and barbaric acts. He termed her the brave and rightful woman set an example of human dignity.
