NADRA tries to deprive Mr Hussain of fundamental right: Haider Rizvi

MQM supporters & workers need explanation from authorities
MQM Coordination Committee said on Tuesday that the non-issuance of NICOP card and Pakistani passport to MQM Chief Mr Altaf Hussain seemed negation the mandates of hundreds of thousands people of Pakistan and their representatives including 7 Senators, 25 MNAs and 52 MPAs.
Talking to the journalists during a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, Azizabad, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said it was Mr Hussain’s fundamental right to attain NICOP and Pakistani passport as other Pakistani had. Members of MQM Coordination Committee Mr Wasay Jalil, Mr Waseem Akhter, Mr Saif Yar Khan, Mr Gulfaraz Khan Khattak, Mr Aslam Afridi and Mr Ashfaq Mangi were also present on the occasion.
Mr Haider Abbas Rizvi said Mr Hussain is the only leader of 98% poor of the country, who also love him, and the founder of a pivotal political party MQM. He said if it happened to such a stalwart personality of the country so who else remained left.
The MQM leader said Mr Hussain had submitted his NICOP application on 4th April 2014, also intending to attain his Pakistani passport. He showed the photocopy of formal application submitted to NADRA’s and its token # 2 and tracking ID # 503601007637 to the journalists during the press briefing.
Mr Rizvi said his party leader had completed all the official procedure while NADRA officials deputed at Pakistan High Commission London took his photographs, imprinted his fingerprints and charged him the official fee of UK£64.
He also referred to foreign office spokesperson’s official statement on 17th April that MQM Chief Mr Altaf Hussain had submitted his NICOP application at Pakistan High Commission in London. He said, in her statement, the foreign office spokesperson also claimed on record that the application had been sent to interior ministry for processing.
Mr Rizvi said, when a Pakistani applied for NICOP he could generally get his card within a week or two, but we did not know what happened to Mr Hussain’s NICOP card and why had he not yet been given his fundamental right to possess his national identity.
He said the entire nation especially MQM supporters and workers needed an appropriate explanation from federal government, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and NADRA officials that why even after five week, Mr Altaf Hussain had not yet been given his NICOP card.
Mr Rizvi also asked a question to the authorities that if MQM Chief Mr Altaf Hussain is not a Pakistani citizen than who else would be so. He affirmed that the entire nation, MQM supporters and workers deeply love their party’s founder leader Mr Altaf Hussain.
The MQM leader also demanded that President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and NADRA officials should provide his NICOP card as it is his fundamental right.
He also condemned additional interior secretary for a vicious conspiracy against the entire nation as trying to deprive Mr Hussain for attaining his NICOP and passport respectively. He also criticized and rejected the claim of Minister of State for Interior Wali-ur-Rehman that NADRA’s data would delete automatically after a month.
Mr Rizvi questioned to the people who asked about Mr Hussain’s return, that how could he come back if he would not be given his essential credentials.
He condemned government’s action to suspend NADRA’s officials who recorded Mr Hussain’s data and facilitated him. He said they just provided facility to a Pakistani as they are for it. He also demanded to the federal government that all NADRA employees who were suspended for the incident should be retrieved respectably.
The MQM leader also thanked to the leader of the Opposition Mr Khursheed Shah, Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party Chief Mr Mehmood Khan Achakzai, their old friend Mr Javed Hashmi, Mr Shah Mehmood Quraishi and Shahi Syed for their support on the issue.
He also said MQM had right to appeal at apex court if government would not take any action soon. He warned the government that MQM supporters and workers would protest not only in Pakistan but around the globe.
