Hamid Mir was going to Quetta. Who compelled him to cancel his Quetta trip and enticed him to come to Karachi?
The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has raised some important questions regarding the assassination attack on senior journalist and anchor-person Hamid Mir.
He has asked the top management of GEO TV, high level members of PEMRA and Judicial Commission to consider the questions raised by him. He hoped that his questions might help them in investigation.
Question No.1 : With whom did Hamid Mir share his arrival time and flight number in Geo’s Administration?
Question No. 2. Hamid Mir was going to Quetta. Who compelled him to cancel his Quetta trip and enticed him to come to Karachi?
Question No. 3 : Did the GEO administration arrange a bullet-proof vehicle to receive him from the airport to transfer him to his destination?
Question No. 4. Did proper security arrangement was made to take him to his destination? Which security agency was given the responsibility to transfer Hamid Mir to his destination?
Question No. 5. Did the people in GEO administration who knew about his travel details shared this information with their colleagues?
Question No. 6 : According to news reports in print and electronic media, he was going to Quetta. The question is: Who persuaded him to cancel his Quetta trip? Did anyone compel him to come to Karachi?
Question No. 7:  Did his driver took him to the hospital in which he is undergoing treatment? Did Hamid Mir ask him to take him there?
Question No. 8: Who were the people from GEO’s management who  were first to arrive at the hospital where Hamid Mir was taken for treatment ?
Question No. 9: Different channels and newspapers have told us about a hit list prepared by Taliban. Hamid Mir’s name tops the list. This hit list has been shown on TV channels repeatedly. The so-called leaders of Taliban have threatened Hamid Mir and others of dire consequences. The newspapers and TV channels should be asked how they got this list.
Question No. 10: Different Taliban groups have been issuing threats to Hamid Mir. Their names and contact numbers should be traced. It will help in the investigation.
Question No. 11 : It has been revealed in investigative report of GEO TV that members of banned outfit were seen at the scene of crime before attack. We must found out where these people and their organization’s name.
Question No. 12  : In November 2012, Tehreek Taliban Pakistan tried to kill Hamid Mir in Islamabad by a bomb attack. TTP had claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Question No. 13: Tehreek-e-Taliban Punjab has accepted the responsibility of the attack on Hamid Mir. This news has been published in the Daily Jung and other newspapers and broadcast by news channels. It should be investigated why this important point is being ignored in investigation.
Question No. 14: Noted columnist and Anchor-person Imtiaz Ahmed has also received threats. Anchor-person Raza Rumi was attacked. Office of Express News and their Van were also attacked too. TTP has accepted the responsibility of the attack on Express News’ van, which resulted in the death of three employees. Taliban has been hurling threats to journalists and anchor-persons. Why was ISI blamed for the attack on Hamid Mir? It should be investigated why ISI Chief’s picture was splashed across on the TV screens?
Mr. Hussain has appealed to intellectuals, writers, columnists and news analysts and defense analysts to share their analysis and views with people.
