MQM members in the provincial assembly of Sindh have denounced the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for allowing the KESC an increase of Rs 1.60 per unit in the tariff under the head of fuel adjustment charge. The MPAs termed the hike as gross injustice to the citizens of Karachi.
The MQM MPAs said that the people of Karachi were using expensive electricity as compared to other parts of the country, but they were being burdened each month by increasing the fuel adjustment charge. They said that the load-shedding was continuing unstoppably even in the holy month of Ramadan and therefore, the increase in the fuel adjustment charge was uncalled for.
The MPAs demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Federal Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar to take back the notification of the increase in the KESC tariff under the head of fuel adjustment.
