Voicing concern over Punjab’s lady health workers’ demonstration in front of Punjab Assembly against non-payment of their three months’ salaries and inordinate delay in regularizing their services, Haq Parast legislators have demanded of Punjab government to ensure immediate disbursement of the salaries, besides regularizing their services.
In a statement issued on Monday, Haq Parast MNAs regretted that on the one hand, lady health workers of Punjab were deprived of salaries for the last three months and, on the other, Punjab government was not regularizing the services of the lady health workers working for the last 20 years despite the Supreme Court’s clear orders.
They said that the act of depriving Punjab’s lady health workers of salaries was, on the one hand, badly affecting their day-to-day life and, on the other, they had been compelled to stage demonstration in favour of their just demand and rights.
The Haq Parast legislators said that the protesting lady health workers had given a hint that they would boycott polio vaccination campaign if their services were not regularized and, hence it was a matter of grave concern because such a development might affect the polio campaign.
Expressing solidarity with the protesting lady health workers, the Haq Parast MNAs demanded of Punjab’s Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take immediate notice of the health workers’ protest, ensuring payment of their salaries, besides regularizing their services in the light of Supreme Court’s orders.
