Conversation with PM Pervaiz Ashraf on telephone
Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr Farooq Sattar telephoned Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and informed him about the current situation in Karachi. He said that the holy month of Ramadan was about to start and the traders and business persons were highly apprehensive about the increasing incidents of extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and bloodshed in the city.
Dr Sattar said that innocent people were being gunned down on a daily basis in Karachi creating instability in the country. He said that Karachi is the economic hub of the country and bloodshed in Karachi is equal to harming the economy of the country.
Dr Sattar said that the business persons have been forced to shift their investment to other countries that can cause irreparable damage to the national economy besides creating instability. He demanded that Karachi should be cleansed of criminals, killers, and extortionists by taking stern action.
Prime Minister Ashraf assured Dr Sattar that he would not allow the peace of Karachi to be ruined. He said that he would soon visit Karachi and hold a bringing the Karachi situation under control. He assured that full action would be taken against the elements involved in destroying peace in Karachi.
