The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the grenade attack on a cement depot in FB Area by criminals of the gang warfare and termed it an act of blatant terrorism. It said that the criminals of the gang war were openly sending extortion slips to the traders and business persons and carrying out grenade attacks in case their demands for extortion were net met.
The Co-ordination Committee said that the inaction on the part of the police and other law-enforcing agencies had created a sense of insecurity in the business community of Karachi, and they were forced to make the protest by shutting down their businesses. It said that the criminals of the gang war were operating in the city with impunity, and the police was doing nothing to control the worsening situation.
The Co-ordination Committee demanded of Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the grenade attack on the cement depot in FB Area. It called for urgent steps for rid the city of the extortion mafia operating in the city.
