The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the burying alive of a newly born female child by her heard-hearted father in Khanewal in the Punjab. It said that the brutal incident was reminiscent of the dark ages. The incident had also shown that the light of knowledge and modern education had not yet reached in many areas of the country even in the 21st century. The hearts and minds of some people were still controlled by the medieval feudal customs and thoughts.
The Co-ordination Committee said that the feudal system was the biggest hurdle in providing education and other basic facilities to the general public in the country. Occurrences of such heart-rending incidents, even in the 21st century, were proof of the utter backwardness in both religious and worldly education. It said that such incidents could be thwarted by imparting the real spirit of the religious knowledge along with modern scientific education.
