Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s workers and supporters organised on Monday a number of rallies and demonstrations in several cities of Sindh to demonstrate their allegiance to their party chief Altaf Hussain.
Participants of the demonstrations and rallies taken out in Qambar Shehdadkot, Naushero Feroze, Kashmore, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro and Gothki, also lashed out at the BBC for airing a false and baseless documentary which, they opined, was aimed at tarnishing the image of the MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain.
The rallies and demonstrations were attended by members of MQM Coordination Committee, Central Executive Council, different organizational committees of the interior Sindh, zonal in-charges and office-bearers of sector and unit committees and various departments of the party and thousands of Haq Parast people.
The participants of the rallies were carrying large-sized portraits of Altaf Hussain, party flags and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of the party chief. They also raised full-throated slogans against the BBC documentary, describing it as misleading and unfounded.
One such demonstrations was staged in front of Mirpurkhas Press Club which was attended by members of Sindh Tanzeemi Committee, Zafar Khan and Siraj Rajput and Zonal In-charge Mujeeb-ul-Haq, Haq Parast MPA Dr Zafar Kamali and office-bearers and members of APMSO, Medical-Aid Committee, Women Wing and people belonging to different nationalities, religions and walks of life.
Another rally was taken out taken out from zonal office of MQM Nawabshah to Nawabshah Press Club. It was attended, among others, by MQM Coordination Committee Member, Nisar Panhwar, Sindh Tanzeemi Committee members – Yawar Faisal, Sharif Khan --, Zonal In-charge Asim Kabir and offce-bearers of sector and unit committees and a large number of Haq Parast people.
Yet another protest demonstration to express solidarity with Mr Hussain was staged in front of Tando Allahyar Press Club. It was addressed by Sindh Tanzeemi Committee’s member Fareed Ahmed Khan and Zonal Committee’s In-charge Mohammad Ali Shah.
A huge rally was also taken out from Jamshoro’s Mohajir Colony to Kotri Press Club. It was led by the interior Sindh Tanzeemi Committee members Sheeraz Masood and Ghulam Rasul Sammo, Zonal Committee’s In-charge Ayub Khan.
Similar protest demonstrations were held under the aegis of MQM’s Thatta, Ghotki, Nausher Feroze, Qambar Shehdadkot and Kashmor.
Denouncing the BBC documentary, speakers of the rallies said that the negative propaganda spread through the documentary amounted to a medial trial of the MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain and, as such, it must be widely condemned by all sections of the society. Ends…
