If the treason case is to progress then it should be run against every individual who directly, indirectly, overtly or covertly supported General Pervez Musharraf
MQM Founder Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has stated that to isolate only former President General Pervez Musharraf and putting only him on trial is entirely unconstitutional and unjust. This act smacks of open injustice, oppression, prejudices and poisonous mentality working behind it. If the treason case is to progress then it should be run against every individual who directly, indirectly, overtly or covertly supported General Pervez Musharraf including political and religious leaders, generals, judges, institution or institutions. Mr Hussain expressed these views while talking to the leader of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain over the phone.
Welcoming the recent statement of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in relation to the treason case instituted against former President General Pervez Musharraf, Mr Hussain praised Ch. Shujaat for his courage and bravery for speaking the truth. Mr Hussain said that others must also shun their double-standards and ungratefulness and not only speak the truth but also support the truth.
Mr Hussain said that it is sad and unfortunate that people show ungratefulness and disloyalty towards those who they once fully supported, received privileges and ministries from – and now hurl abuses. He told Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain that you have courageously spoke the truth and proved that people of character are present even today.
Mr Hussain agreed to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s stance that running the treason case only and only against General Pervez Musharraf is wrong. Mr Hussain said that is unfortunate that today General Pervez Musharraf is being held solely responsible for all the ills and is being victimised. He said that the true spirit of justice demands that the treason case must not be run against one individual and he must not be victimised or discriminated against. He said that we must refrain from hatred, discrimination, oppression and injustice because such acts have led to the dismemberment of the country in the past.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain wholly agreed with Mr Hussain and said that unfortunately today we are surrounded by hypocrisy, hatred and discrimination, which has ruined the country. On this occasion both the leaders also asked of each others’ welfare and exchanged good wishes.
