The military intervention by the United States against Venezuela, along with the kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan President, and his spouse, is a remarkable event with no historical parallel. This occurrence establishes a new standard and is poised to herald the onset of the Third World War. In eras past, it was a frequent occurrence for nations to invade others, depose their ruling leaders, and seize control of their territories. Nevertheless, there has never been a documented case of one nation's forces launching an assault on another sovereign state, subsequently detaining its leader and their partner for transportation to their own nation. Historical accounts do include instances where, after invading a country, conquerors executed its monarch and family; however, no previous case exists where a head of state was abducted along with their spouse post-invasion. Throughout history, empires such as the Greeks, Romans, Spanish, Mogul, Ottomans, Austro-Hungarians, and the British have expanded their realms by invading and annexing neighboring territories, thereby growing their influence. The chronicles of early Islamic conquests also highlight numerous battles. Yet, in all recorded history, an event where one sovereign nation attacked another and kidnapped its president and spouse has never occurred. Venezuela stands as an independent and sovereign nation. The United States’ assault on Venezuela on January 3, 2026, represents an infringement on its freedom and territorial integrity. The circumstances surrounding the capture of the Venezuelan president and his wife mark a singular and unmatched incident in all of human history. The Role of the United Nations:The First World War, which took place from 1914 to 1918, claimed the lives of between 15 to 22 million individuals. Following that, the Second World War unfolded from 1939 to 1945, resulting in approximately 80 million casualties. In the aftermath of these devastating conflicts, global leaders convened to determine how long humanity would endure such destruction due to warfare. It was thus resolved that all international disputes should ideally be settled through diplomacy, leading to the formation of a dedicated platform for conflict resolution. Consequently, the League of Nations was established. However, due to some limitations within the League, the United Nations was founded in 1945 to ensure that disagreements between nations could be addressed through discussion, aiming to prevent future wars. Since 1945, up to this date, January 4, 2026, numerous conflicts have erupted globally, leading to the loss of countless lives. The United Nations has repeatedly been unable to intervene effectively, or its responses have been excessively delayed. There has never been a scenario in which the UN issued directives that promptly halted a conflict upon its inception. This trend suggests that the United Nations has transitioned from a functional body to one that lacks effectiveness. The U.S. military operation against Venezuela, including the detention of President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse taken to the U.S. in handcuffs, is poised to spark the onset of the Third World War. This event sets a worrying example for China and other influential nations. Such actions will pave the way for new precedents, leading to further tensions that could ignite numerous smaller conflicts, ultimately drawing in the entire globe. Regarding Pakistan in light of the international fallout from this occurrence, I trust there are highly astute leaders within the country's decision-making circles who will prioritize the nation's best interests in their decisions. Should the government need guidance, I am fully prepared to assist without any reservations. Altaf Hussain. London. 373rd study circle via TikTok on January 4, 2026.
