Altaf Hussain’s sane advice to the military establishment
Pakistan, more than before, needs complete harmony, tranquility and unity.
It is very common that disputes and conflicts occur in every family. Disagreements are common, but such disagreements do not reach an extent where family members start killing each other.
My message to the establishment is that the reality is clear that the true power in the country lies with you.
Even a child is fully aware of the actual position of the President and the Prime Minister.
These are the facts, even if they are wrong, but there should be no hesitation in acknowledging them.
I would say that not only for Altaf Hussain but even for Imran Khan, you should show magnanimity and allow unity and justice to prevail by giving everyone their rightful due.
For the survival, security, and stability of Pakistan, I would give the establishment this sane advice that over the past 78 years, you have imposed martial laws and tried every approach, yet you have not been able to bring Pakistan to the level where it should have been today.
My request is that you should gradually give democratic forces enough space to stand on their own feet. Let them work and resolve issues. If problems persist, then allow the next elections to bring forward parties with their manifestos and do not create obstacles or interfere with those whom the people choose. In this way, gradually, your constitutional standing, as well as the bond of respect and affection with the people, will not only remain intact but will grow stronger.
With the continuation of a democratic system, Pakistan will reach a stage where the public, through Parliament, will be able to make decisions that reflect their aspirations and ensure the country’s progress, security, democratic values, and human rights.
