Respectfully, Muftis, Scholars, and Members of the Islamic Ideology Council - Please issue a unanimously signed Fatwa to guide the nation about Maryam Nawaz’s handshake with a non-mahram man. ...…………………………………………. Dear Muftis and Scholars! Pakistanis are anxiously waiting to hear from you and read what unanimously signed Fatwa in this regard you will release. ...…………………………………………. January 7, 2025 Since yesterday, a snap has been in limelight on social media platforms just like a tsunami. In the snap, the Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz is seen shaking hands with a ruler who arrived from the UAE to Punjab for hunting purposes. He was already allotted a piece of land in #Punjab, on which a royal palace had been erected by his state. The ruler frequently visits and enjoys his stay at that palace. On this occasion, when the ruler arrived in #Pakistan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Minister warmly felicitated him. Additionally, Maryam Nawaz, with great warmth and humility, shook hands with the male UAE ruler. This has raised questions, especially given that the Sharif family is a strong supporter of Islamic style of governance and Sharia-based system. Why, and for what purpose, did Maryam Nawaz shake hands with the ruler? Henceforth, I appeal to Pakistan’s Muftis, scholars, and members of the Islamic Ideology Council to issue a unanimous Fatwa on whether it's permissible in #Islam and lawful for Maryam Nawaz to shake hands with the non-mahram. The Pakistani nation is anxiously waiting for your collective guidance on this matter. If the respected Muftis, scholars of the Islamic Ideology Council do not speak on this issue, they should definitely refrain from criticising other women in the country who, based on their professional ethics, personal beliefs, or intellectual understanding, shake hands with the non-mahrams. Moreover, if the Muftis and scholars fail to issue a prompt Fatwa on this matter and choose to uphold a double standard in #Islam, it would be better for them to abandon their religious titles and attire. They should cease issuing Fatwas that only serves the elite's interests and stop misleading the impoverished masses.
