Israel targeted Beirut, the capital of Lebanon with a barrage of Bunker Buster Bombs at a location where Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was attending a meeting. In that deadliest attack, Hassan Nasrallah and other prominent leaders of Hezbollah were martyred.
I strongly condemn this aggressive and barbaric assault by Israel. The United Nations was established after the devastation of WW1 & WW2, where millions lost their lives, with the purpose of preventing future conflicts and curbing the principle of 'Might is right.' The hope was that it would act as a shield, preventing powerful nations from carrying out acts of aggression against weaker ones.
However, over the past year, Israel has continued its relentless, Genghis Khan-like assaults on innocent civilians in Palestine.
Despite multiple UN resolutions demanding an end to the hostilities, Israel not only ignored these directives but escalated its attacks on the innocent people of Palestine and Beirut. As a result, millions of innocent Palestinians and Lebanese civilians were killed or injured, and many were forced to flee their homes. Even the camps set up for the displaced were not spared, as Israeli airstrikes continued to target these shelters, further increasing the loss of innocent lives.
I strongly urge UN Secretary General
to ask what is the purpose and justification for maintaining the existence of the "UN" when Israel is openly violating UN directives and orders. Hence, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, should not only resign in protest but also immediately convene a meeting of all member states to formally dissolve the "United Nations." The organisation has lost its relevance as powerful nations like Israel continue to disregard its resolutions and mandates with impunity. There is no justification for the United Nations’ existence when it has repeatedly failed to hold aggressors accountable or prevent the blatant violation of international law.
I also call on the leaders of the world's superpowers and nuclear nations to explain their silence in the face of Israel’s ongoing aggression and flagrant disregard for international norms. Why are you not using your influence to curb Israel's defiance? Why remain silent in the face of such violations and acts of aggression?
