Muttahida Quami Movement ( MQM) has filed a defamation suit of 10 billion rupees against Kashif Abbasi, anchor person of a private TV channel, for wrongly accusing the MQM leader of having taken money from agencies.
The suit has been filed by Barrister Farogh Nasim on behalf of Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar in the Sindh High Court.
The defamation suit maintains that Kashif Abbasi had made deliberate attempt to smear the image of the MQM leader Mr Altaf Hussain by distorting facts inspite of clear and unequivocal statement of the main characters of the Asghar Khan case.
Mr Altaf Hussain is the leader of Muttahida Quami Movement which is the third largest political party in the county. He has millions of supporters in Pakistan as well as abroad.
Misrepresenting the facts repeatedly and malicious accusations was not only an attempt to harm the political stature of Mr Altaf Hussain but the sentiments of millions of supporters, MQM workers, leaders and voters have been hurt.
