MQM leaders and legislators meet Shia Ulema

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee’s Members and Haq Parast legislators met on Monday the Ulema and office-bearers of different Shia organizations on Monday and handed over the party chief Altaf Hussain’s message aimed at maintaining peace and sectarian harmony during Muharram.
MQM Coordination Committee Members Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui and Javaid Kazmi called on the managing trustee of Imam Bargah Shah Karbala Trust, Rizvia Society, Aqeel Mirza; chief of Markazi Tanzeem-e-Aza, Karachi, Salman Mujtaba Naqvi and President of Jaffer Tayyar Society, Aijaz Hussain Zaidi.
The MQM leaders, who also attended meetings of Tanzeem-e-Aza Pakistan, trustees and mourning associations held under the chairmanship of renowned religious leader, Allama Ali Karrar Naqvi, prominent Nauha Khwan S M Naqi, discussed practical steps concerning peace and tranquility during Muharram.
The Ulema and office-bearers of different Shia organizations lauded Altaf Hussain’s efforts for maintaining peace and sectarian harmony and prayed for his health and long life.
On this occasion, they also apprised the MQM Coordination Committee members about the problems being faced by Imambargahs.
The Committee’s members appealed to Shia Ulema to give the message of sectarian harmony in their sermons and desist from such talks which the conspirators could use for exploiting the situation.
They said that although MQM was in opposition, it was still aware of its obligatory duty of ensuring sectarian harmony, saying the party would in cooperation with the Ulema of Shia and other sects and their different associations continue its struggle for the maintenance of peace and religious tolerance during Muharram.
Others present at the meetings included Haq Parast MNAs Sajid Ahmed and Rehan Zafar, Haq Parast MPAs Syed Anwar Raza, Khalid Bin Wilayat, Abdul Haseeb, MQM Ulema Committee’s In-charge, Javaid Ahmed and president and general secretary of Markazi Tanzeem Aza, Karachi, Syed Shehzad Ali Rizvi and Syed Iftikhar Mehdi, and Rizvia Society’s Imam Bargah Shah Karbala Trust’s general secretary, Mazhar Iqbal, Pesh Imam Prof Sadiq and Jaffer Tayyar Society’s Maulana Ali Abbas, Maulana Zulfiqar Jaffery.
