MQM COMMEMORATES MARTYRS DAY WITH TRADITIONAL REVERENCE

The Muttahidda Quami Movement (MQM) commemorates its "Martyrs' Day" in Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities with great reverence.
MQM's founder and leader Altaf Hussain, his aides and leaders of the MQM paid rich tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the collective rights of Mohajir nation. On Hussain's appeal, the activists had assembled at the martyrs cemetery located in Yasinabad. They laid floral wreaths and offered prayers there for the departed souls. In connection with Martyrs' Day, MQM workers, families of martyrs, sympathisers, especially women and children visited.
On this occasion, a heavy contingent of police and rangers was also deployed inside and outside the Martyrs' Graveyard. The Rangers personnel and cops conducted physical searches of the visitors at the Martyrs' Graveyard and as usual stopped them from entering the MQM's Martyrs' Graveyard. They also and harassed them.
Despite impediments, the visitors managed to enter the Martyrs cemetery and performed the rituals.
The traditional commemoration continued till the evening.
Activists also visited other Martyrs Cemeteries in other cities in the province and performed the rituals.
A special visit to the grave of slain Deputy Convenor of Coordination Committee Shaheed-e Wafa Prof. Dr Hasan Zafar Arif was made by the loyals who laid floral wreaths and offered prayers for the departed soul. MQM workers and sympathisers, youths, elders, women and children also visited the graves of Pakka Qala martyrs and other martyrs of the MQM' in Hyderabad. They performed the rituals there. MQM men and women continued to visit the Martyrs Graves the whole day.The traditional commemoration also continued the whole day in Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allah Yar, Nawabshah and other Mohajir dominated cities in Sindh.
The sacrifices of the martyrs were highlighted through videos, anthems, posters and pictures.
The MQM had also used a hashtag, "#MQMMartyrsOurHero" on social media forums in loving memory of the scarifiers.
