People of Karachi boycotted the bye elections of NA-237 and
NA-239 today on the appeal of founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain.
Turnout of was very low.
According to the details, today bye-elections were held in
Karachi on the two seats of National Assembly, NA-237 Malir-II and NA-239 Korangi. Imran Khan’s party PTI,
army created MQMP, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other parties were participated
in the bye elections while the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) led by founder
and leader Mr. Altaf Hussain, boycotted the bye elections due to un-announced
ban on its political activities and state operation against its party. Workers
of MQM distributed the pamphlets in the city and wall chalking was seen in the
different areas of the city including the both constituencies. A vibrant
campaign by was launched on social media for the boycott by MQM.
MQM Founder
leader Altaf Hussain appealed in a video message to the people of Karachi to
boycott the bye elections. On the appeal of Mr Altaf Hussain, people of both
constituencies boycotted the bye elections, poling camps of army created MQMP,
MQMH and other parties were vacant. People of both constituencies shows
complete disassociation on the election, no elections activities was reported
and all streets in these areas were looks like desert.
Due to
boycott, election turnout was low. Some voters wrote “Boycott” and “Jeye Altaf”
(Long live Altaf) on the ballot papers.
Media persons
who visited the areas for coverage the bye elections accepted in their reports
about effect of boycott appeal on the low turnout of bye election.
It is learned
that against brutal state operation, MQM boycotted the 2018 general elections
and all bye elections which were held after 22nd August 2016.
Recently, people of Karachi also boycotted the bye elections on NA240 Korangi
and NA245 Lines Area on the appeal of Mr. Altaf Hussain led MQM.
According to
the unofficial result, registered votes of a constituency NA239 Korangi, are
5,85000 but former Prime Minister and leader of PTI Imran Khan got just 17,064
votes in 114 Poling stations while army sponsored MQMP got just 3036 votes.
Turn out of this bye elections was very low.
MQM founder
leader Altaf Hussain congratulated to the people of Karachi for boycott the bye
elections. He said that this impressive boycott again proved that people of
Karachi still with Altaf Hussain and his MQM.
