The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the attack on the vehicle of a local private television channel. The attackers who were armed with sticks and rods kidnapped the staff and brutally tortured them. As a result of this torture driver Gul Sher died.
Mr. Hussain has termed the incident an act of open terrorism and attack on the freedom of press.
In a statement Mr. Hussain said, “Criminals are openly committing crimes in the city at time when an operation against them is going on. A sense of insecurity prevails among citizens, journalists and businessmen because of the lawlessness in the city.”
Mr. Hussain expressed his heartfelt condolences with the family members of the driver and prayed for him. He also expressed his sympathies with the staff members. He demanded an action against the culprits from Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. They must be arrested immediately and prosecuted in accordance with the laws.
