MQM HOLDS PROTEST AT 10-DOWNING STREET, PRESENTS MEMO CARRYING DETAILS OF INJUSTICES
LONDON. May 13, 2018: In protest of arbitrary arrests, enforced unlawful disappearances, unlawful detention and extrajudicial killings of Mohajirs, the sole Mohajir representing political party in Pakistan staged a protest demo at the 10-Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister Ms. Theresa May. The protest demo was organised by MQM United Kingdom Unit. The MQM leaders, who led the protest, presented a memorandum to the British PM, which was received by an officer on behalf of the British PM. MQM affiliates from all over UK and men and women, elderly members and children actively participated in the protest, which was very successful. The protestors had held placards, portraits of MQM founder leader Mr. Altaf Hussain, inscribed demands and protest slogans and portraits of extra judicially killed and unlawfully detained for enforced to disappear party workers on placards.
One particular placard carried demand for the UK as “Wake up UK We ant justice.” Another carried a demand from Pakistani authorities for stopping Mohajirs’ genocide and the the demand on the placard was, “Stop Genocide of Mohajirs.”
Visitors and the tourists from across the world to the UK on the way stopped to enquire about afflictions of Mohajirs and they were watched in shock and agony.
On the occasion, protestors of Pashtoon Tahaffuz Movement, who were also at protest joined MQM in its protest to as a gesture of solidarity for a while.
The slogan that gained momentum on the protest was, “The Uniform (Military) is behind all kinds of extremism and terrorism in Pakistan.”
The MQM representatives, Coordination Committee Deputy Convener Mr. Qasim Ali Raza, member Syed Mustafa Azizabadi, MNA Sufyan Yusuf, MQM UK Organiser Hashim Azam, Joint Organiser Sohail Khanzada and Finance Secretary Asif Saeed reached 10-Downing Street and presented a memorandum to the staffers of British PM May, which carried details about atrocities inflicted on Mohajirs by the state of Pakistan, its military establishment and paramilitary forces, law enforcement forces and the government of Pakistan. The memorandum had in particular carried details about cold blooded custodial assassination of senescent MQM leader, academician, philosopher and thinker Prof. Dr Hassan Zafar Arif and embargo on Mr. Hussain in Pakistan at the behest of Pakistan’s military Junta.
MQM through the memorandum appealed to the British government to use its influence on Pakistan to save Mohajirs from genocide, end to embargo on Mr. Hussain and justice to Mohajirs.
