ALTAF TERMS USE OF STATE POWERS AGAINST PTM A SHEER MANIFEST OF BARBARISM
MQM founder leader Mr. Altaf Hussain has condemned Punjab Police over unlawful action against Pashtoon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) and arrests of PTM leaders Ali Wazeer, Bilal Mando Khail, Ismat Shah Jehan, Muzammil and others in Lahore.
In his condemnation statement, he said that the PTM just wanted to hold a peaceful rally in Lahore after peaceful rallies in other cities of the countries so that the people of Punjab should also be made aware of atrocities against Pashtoons, their extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and other injustices but the Punjab law enforcers launched a vehement crackdown on PTM.
Mr. Hussain asked the government to explain as why the religious zealots are allowed to hold cities under siege, set public property on fire without fear and that no law enforcement forces takes notice of their acts of arson and violence but the very same law enforcers do not hesitate in unleashing their hatred against the peaceful workers and leaders of the PTM.
He said that the Punjab law enforcement authorities have conducted arbitrary arrests of the workers and leaders of the PTM so as to pin them to wall.
He demanded that the detained PTM leaders should immediately be released and they should be allowed to hold their rally in Lahore as it is their democratic right. The government should ensure the state law enforcing forces would not use powers against the PTM.
Mr. Hussain expressed complete solidarity with the PTM, its sympathisers and supporters.
