LONDON. February 18, 2018: Delegates from all over the world paid rich tribute to slain MQM leader Prof. Dr Hassan Zafar Arif, who was executed in custody by the security forces of Pakistan. Prof. Arif was a legendary character, an eminent academician, a thinker and rights activist and was affiliated with MQM. This was witnessed in a condolence reference that was held in London under the aegis of MQM.
Addressing the condolence reference, MQM’s Coordination Committee Convener Dr Nadeem Ehsan said that Prof. Arif was among top academicians in Pakistan and his contribution towards education, his sacrifices for the rights of the oppressed was splendid. He was executed only because he had associated him with MQM under the dynamic leadership of the founder leader of the Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain. He was executed in custody but the killer security force staged a drama to portray his death from natural causes. However, the people rejected their claim and believe he was executed by the security forces in their custody.
The security forces had been puzzled over being exposed for his assassination in custody by a working journalist Mr. Fawwad Hassan, who was then kidnapped by the paramilitary Rangers from Karachi University where the reporter Hassan had been to cover a condolence reference in memory of slain Prof. Arif by his fellow teachers.
“Security forces of Pakistan are bent upon unleashing their hatred and inflicting atrocities on MQM activists and Mohajirs.” it is predetermined position of the MQM that the struggle for the rights won’t stop, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, BBC Urdu Service News host Shafi Naqi Jamaei said, “Prof. Arif was a dynamic person and rendered tremendous services and laid unprecedented sacrifices for the oppressed, hence is not dead but alive.”
“There should be a scholarship and establish a University in Prof’ Arif’s name and conspiracies for wiping out his name should be defeated”, he suggested.
Prof. Arif had preached to his students to respond with arguments, logic and extended study, he told.
Kohat University’s ex-Professor, eminent analyst, Norwegian Centre for Migration ad Health adviser Ms. Ferhat Taj said that, “There is only one MQM and that is led by MQM founder leader Mr. Hussain, which the state of Pakistan could never suppress or eliminate.”
Condemning the security forces for arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances of Mohajirs, Balouchs and Pakhtoons and people from Pakistan’s tribal areas, she said that the victims of state-sponsored atrocities are members of one family, the family of the oppressed. The gross injustices and state-sponsored injustices are causing the oppressed folks to unite as one. The state would be shaken when the victims of state-sponsored atrocities and injustices like Sindhi, Balouch Pakhtoon and Mohajirs fight against the atrocities and injustices with unity.
Paying tribute to Prof. Arif, she said that he was one who declared the port city Karachi a social engine and that he was an asset whose custodial assassination was not just a colossal loss of MQM but a loss to all the oppressed folks.
Mr. Hussain is the only leader who is very vocal on injustices but sadly there is nobody else to raise a voice of concern over genocide of people from tribal areas and Pakhtoon folks.
It is a matter of shame that the army Generals of Pakistan’s military establishment praise them to be the sole protectors of the country while the fact is that they are truly responsible for dissecting Pakistan into Pakistan and Bangladesh and that they are after the remaining part of the country, which is going ot be ruined in case these Generals are not controlled.
She held the organisers of the condolence reference in high esteem for displaying a portrait of Naqeebullah Mehsood, who was recently killed extrajudicially for failing to pay extortion money to the killer force.
Canadian Tag TV anchor Tahir Aslam Gora said that revolution in Pakistan by the oppressed is the need of the hour and verily the revolution could only be actualized and materilaised under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Hussain.
Prof. Arif was a top academician in Pakistan but conspiracies are being hatched to mar his services and contributions only because he was associated with Mr. Hussain and MQM. Prof. Arif had studied Mr. Hussain’s strategy of promoting the people from grass root level and hence he joined him in his struggle for the oppressed.
He slammed PPP’s Co-Chairperson Mr. Asif Ali Zardari for holding the notorious police officer Rao Anwar in high esteem despite the fact that this notorious police officer has killed more than 450 civilians in fake police encounter only for money. “Asif Ali Zardari and politician like him are just slaves of the military establishment.”
He categorically asserted that neither any conspiracy for isolating Mr. Hussain nor would the agenda of crushing the MQM would ever be successful. We are all patriots and the state could only remain intact if it would let the oppressed people live with dignity and peace.
Addressing the MQM activists, he said that the military establishment in Pakistan is so powerful, tyrant and draconian but the activists should never lose heart and hope.
In his televised address, eminent poet and journalist Atif Tauqeer said that all those who love education and all those who are sensitive are saddened over the custodial assassination of Prof. Arif. He was a legendary person and always remained form on his logical stances till he breathed his last. It was horrible to hear that Prof. Arif like academician was assassinated in custody of the security forces. He was planning and rendering his services for spreading the light of education among the masses.
He said that, “Forces of tyranny are making the land of Pakistan a horribly barren land by promoting extremism and intolerance.” No matter what the establishment is doing, people like Prof. Arif would shine even after his death because of his moderate and enlightened contributions.
Eminent Barrister at law and first member of Queen’s Council, UK Sibghatullah Qadri in his address paid rich tribute to slain Prof. Arif and said he was a true Marxist and academician whose entire life was dedicated for the promotion of education. “He had resisted all military dictators and suffered from military hands.” His assassination has deprived the country of a true thinker ad academician. How he was murdered after the security forces kidnapped him while he was entroute to his daughter’s and his body was found dumped on the rear seat of his own car in which he had driven to his daughter’s. How come his death be believed of natural causes?, he questioned.
It is very sad that one who dares to speak the truth is kidnapped, enforced to disappear and even silenced to death.
He demanded that a judicial commission should be constituted to investigate ion his cold blooded assassination in custody and in order to allow the families of the disappeared MQM activists to record their statements and for exposing those who have kidnapped their men and enforced them to disappear.
Eminent analyst Reman Boneri in his televised address from Capitol Hill, United States of America said that he had lived in Karachi for 20 years. “The port city Karachi had contributed tremendously in education, political and business aspects.” “The security forces are butchering the youth ad people of the port city Karachi.”
He said the, “U. S. A. and other European countries are grossly concerned over gross human rights violation in Karachi at the hands of the security forces.” The security forces should cow stop butchering the innocent civilians and those involved in this menace should be taken to task.
Eminent TV host, analyst and poet Mr. Anis Farooqui in his address said the slain Prof. Arif was an institution and that he always stood firmly by his ideas.
He also lauded founder leader of the MQM Mr. Hussain and said that he is the leader, Father of the Mohajir Nation and spiritual leader of Mohajirs and would always be. Prof. Arif was executed because he dared to adhere to Mr. Husain’s ideology but his blood would speak very loud one day.
He said that the cold blooded custodial assassination of him is the real portrayal of security forces’ behavior towards the academicians and scholar. Contrary to Pakistan, teachers are treated with high esteem in countries of the West. Those who assassinated him are in fact enemies of learning and books. The societies where culture of arguments and healthy debates is suppressed become a sheer portrayal of devastation.
Dilawar Asghar, an eminent analyst from U. S. A. said in his address that Prof. Arif was a manifest of endurance and courage and that he had stood firmly on his stances for the prevalanc eof truth and freedom. His assassination has resulted because of his belief, struggle for the oppressed.
Young blogger and journalist and rights activist Jaffer Abbas who is also a leader from NSF in his address said that Prof. Arif had the ability to differentiate among the tyrant and victims and hence he had devoted his entire life for the oppressed.
He said that, “The security forces of Pakistan are treating Mohajirs with hatred and discrimination.” The butchering forces in Pakistan has now created a new term of good and bad MQM as they had in past created a term of good Taliban and bad Taliban. MQM activists are on daily basis killed in custody by te security forces of Pakistan and rights of Mohajirs are fully negated and usurped. What is more painful is the silence of the progressive class of the society on sheer genocide and rights violations of Mohajirs.
MQM UK Organiser Hashim Azam, in the concluding session, thanked the delegates from different countries on attending the condolence reference.
He said that Prof. Ari’s entre life was a depiction of stout resolve, dedication and fearless contributions and for the preaching of the truth. He had joined Mr. Hussain amid highly hostile situation in which the founder and leader Mr. Hussain was pushed by the security forces and remained loyal to him till his last breath.
The speakers and the audience of the condolence reference also offered prayers to the departed soul of slain Prof. Arif.
